Why would my friend try to be like me and then give me backhanded insilts

Okay so I know the title makes me sound like a narcissist but my friend has changed since we have became friends. I know friends rub off on each other but this is just becoming too much and kind of like she’s mirroring me. But then they will like give me backhanded insults and just criticize my life. They also tell me how terrible their life is and then will go on about how their family is so rich and perfect. Why would they do this? Sorry if this doesn’t make sense and I sound like a lunatic
