Cricut Design Space Background Remover Change

I've been using a Cricut for over a year to cut out my own designs. It's been a really great tool for me.

Today I'm seeing that the Design Space interface has changed (as of June 3). The "Background Remover" function is different and I haven't been able figure out how to use it.

I'm on a deadline to complete a project and I went ahead and signed up for Design Space subscription access (free for 1 month) because I thought it would return me to what I'm familiar with. (I don't want to pay for what was previously free, but I'm desperate to complete a project.) Even signed up, I'm still getting this new confusing interface and I can't figure out how to use it with a png file. It's showing as very low resolution, which is is not. And I can't seem to create any kind of file that resembles the artwork.

The anticipated wait time for tech support is 45 minutes and I'm not very optimistic about getting help on the phone .
