Do I need a solicitor?

Hello. After a break up with my girlfriend we're in the process of buying me out of the house.

Do I need a solicitor myself? It's been suggested I do, but I don't know how complicated this is to just manage alone?

The house is currently mortgage free. My girlfriend is remortgaging to buy me out. Their solicitor has done most of the leg work, we're just at the final stage where I need to sign paperwork, etc. Price is agreed, amicable split. House is in England.

Just daunted by the price of paying £1k+ for something that may be as simple as signing a piece or paper? Or is it very complicated and for piece of mind worth the expense of hiring a solicitor to represent myself?

Any advise from those in the know, or anyone who's gone through this process?
