Construction to anesthesiologist
Hello,
I am a 33 year old project manager for an electrical contractor. I have been in the industry for a little over 6 years now. I am looking to become an anesthesiologist. After my first surgery at 23yo I wanted to make the switch but was too deep I felt in my engineering studies. I’m starting to believe construction isn’t for me. I am currently single with no kids so I am able to travel, (I understand this may change).
I have a dual bachelors degree in chemical engineering/applied mathematics & statistics with a 3.2 GPA.
Is it feasible to make this career change? How many more years of school would I have to put myself through to accomplish this? What types of schools would I need to enroll in? How many years before I am an official anesthesiologist? Would I still be able to work full time before residency? How much debt do I have ahead of me? Do you think I’m too old to even make this change?
I’d appreciate any and all advice.
Thanks.
