single/self-partnered and i love it here
hi everyone! wow, am i glad to have found this community :,) i'm a 23 y/o asexual and aromantic transmasc guy and i amĀ finallyĀ started to feel better about myself these past few months.
i didn't start dating or anything until i was 20, and didn't have my first consensual sexual experiences until i was 21. needless to say, i hated it lol. i came out to myself shortly after. i had my first and LAST romantic relationship at 22 and it ended 7 months ago. i wasĀ extremelyĀ depressed, not just because of that, but a ton of other life things. but i never wanna do that shit again lol. being perceived as some "exotic commodity" (i'm caribbean) was fucking weird and gross. i am not interested in sex or romance and definitely don't feel like i'm missing out or being deprived of something.
i am a very independent person by nature (and i'm an aries sun) and enjoy my solitude. i've been going on solo hikes, journaling (been doing it since i was like 13), going to therapy, reading again, doing word search puzzles, the things i love, you know? the only things that are kind of weighing me down right now is the fact that i'm unemployed and living with my parents (been constantly applying but the market just sucks rn). i can see that life for myself though, the one where i'm finally living alone in a space all to myself with a cat child and plants. hopefully it'll happen sooner rather than later :)
i also really like the term self-partnered. i know people were giving emma watson shit for it a couple years back, but i genuinely love the term. with years of journaling and therapy and now being on my medication, i have developed a deep introspective view of myself and what it is i truly love in life. and i used to take myself out all the time before i decided to date people; i'm slowly starting to do it again. i'd go out for brunch and bring a book, or go spend time at a bookstore and grab boba...or go to lunch at an italian restaurant and bring a book. can you tell i love readingš
anyways. yeah. i'm just really happy to be getting myself back :) thanks for reading :)
