£1.75 for 2 fish suppers???

Let me preface this by saying I turn a mere 20 years old in a few weeks. I was not around for the 90s and only know the exponentially increasing prices of my lifetime. My brother and I always reminisce about the old prices of freddos and how 99 ice creams almost used to cost an actual 99p.... but I cannot get my head around Richie saying in one Bottom episode:

"I gave you £1.75 in good faith, where are my two fish suppers?"

I know inflation has gone mad and the further back you go, the cheaper everything gets, but this is just baffling to me. £1.75 wouldn't have even got you a small chips ten years ago, let alone now. A single fish supper now is bare minimum a tenner, often much more.

Could you really get two fish suppers for £1.75 in the 90s? It wasn't that long before I was born and I just can't imagine it. Did that include drinks too? That's a whole other can of worms.
