Just A Random Question On TI2 Regarding Teams.

After the teams lost, did they get to stay at the event and keep getting foods and stuff?

Basically a paid holiday by Valve, or did they get their hotels canceled and sent home? =O

Because I saw the runners up of qualifiers East vs West are playing at Seattle, so imagine losing the qualifier, so you're not really even part of the event, then getting 5 days paid hotel/eatting(I heard Valve took them to semi-expensive restaurants) and all this jazz.

pls bulba confirm.

The qualifiers were not played in Seattle. It was an online "tournament".

Only those that qualified were sent to Seattle. There were also 2 backup teams (mouz and TongFu) that were sent.

The first 3 days (26th August - 29 August) was the group stage which was held in Valve HQ.

The top 4 teams from each group (2) were sent up to the Top Bracket, each played a best of 3 match, loser sent down to the Lower Bracket.

The bottom 4 teams from each group were sent to the Lower Bracket, and each played best of 1 match, loser gets eliminated.

Those matches were played in Benoraya Hall - 3 days (31st August - 2nd September).

Oops I meant the runners up of the Eastern and Western qualifiers.

They were there as back up. You could say it would be all-expense paid, but at the end MUFC was unable to attend in time, so TongFu and mouz had to play it out for a spot. So I guess the team in question was TongFu.

I would assume they would have stayed for the whole thing..

Actually the other back up team was World Elite...Tongfu won the East qualifiers

Oops, mistook that, thanks!

Hmm... probably have the losing team as some sort of back up team I guess. And, I doubt they would just be sent home packing like that.

Yes they stay for the whole event and a few days beforehand. Its essentially a 17 team event this year, just one team will be knocked out very fast, but they won't be booted out of Seattle. So yes it is a paid holiday in one of the best hotels in Seattle and full access to Valve offices etc.
