Kitec Piping Remediation

Kitec Heating Remediation

Home we are looking to buy has Kitec piping on the oil furnace hot water baseboards. Two stories and a total of ~2,400 sq ft.

What are the options to remediate this? Mind you I am very new to this, I am considering the following:

  1. Remove Kitec and replace with new piping and continue to run oil. Would entail dry wall repair, painting, etc.

  2. Remove Kitec and replace with electric baseboard. Same thing with dry wall and painting.

  3. If this is even possible, drain the baseboard pipes, leaving the Kitec in the walls and installing electric baseboards.

  4. Roll the dice.

Rough estimates I have gotten for option 2 are around $17k. Would like to hear some thoughts or experiences with this.
