Do the odd numbered games tend to follow the "Warriors of Light" formula

So it seems III will have a Heroes of Light plot, sounds a lot like the plot of V. Upon research, it seems the first game also had this plot. And while the second game does not seem to have it, it does have four heroes like the odd numbered games. IV and VI by contrast have central protagonists with a supporting cast rather than four protagonists. Do future games from PlayStation follow the Warriors of Light plot or the four protagonist formula? Or are most like IV and VI?
