Bringing change with music

discussion

I have been producing music for two-three years now, I've seen very steady progress in my art and I don't plan on stopping, I want to get better at producing music and I want to learn more about theory and I wanna learn to play some instruments, but I understand that it is important to take one step at a time and solidify it. So trough my two years I was making music I was making sure to do it slow and steady working along the learning curve, however I never really dreamed of becoming a famous musician, singer or anything like that I simply enjoyed it so I did it as a hobby. Lately however I have been starting to get drawn to trying to make a name for myself, not in some celeb way cuz that seems way too repulsive for me personally but rather my country has gone trough some really bad political and economic changes and our social structure is quite bad right now. I'm from Croatia and I'm seeing terrible things happen all around me, and I'm seeing people get treated terribly without wanting to change their own surroundings, they are so very inert. I'm wondering is it genuinely possible to inspire change with music, I can not sing at all right now and my rapping is average at best but I will put in the effort to improve regardless of the conclusion of this post. I will make multiple albums well thought trough albums with deep lyrics about the state of my country and myself, I wanna do it cuz it sounds like a really interesting and challenging idea but I really am curious could it make a difference, no matter how small, is it possible one person out there would be like; okay I'm gonna go vote this dude is talking some real stuff, this isn't an okay for them to treat us lets change something. I understand that to make a real change I would need a big reach, and I don't just plan on dropping an album on Spotify and expect it to be found I've only started writing out the first album and how its gonna be constructed, I doubt I could have it fully ready in under two years because I don't outsource anything and I plan on taking this very seriously not just making some beat and calling it a day, I want it to be genre blending and something out of t he norm.

Also I'm currently debating whether to make the vocals English or Croatian because although I feel as if making the album English would kind of be stepping away from the problem slightly, it could genuinely reach more people even if they aren't Croatian I'm sure there is a lot of people from a lot of countries facing the same issues especially less developed countries. Another thing is if I make the album Croatian, it being a smaller country naturally means there are less niches and less people who listen to experimental music, most people simply listen to the main feed on music platforms and the radio hits.

So yeah I'm not seeking some solid super constructive answer or some pat on the back I'm just really curious to hear some thoughts from people, have songs inspired you before to do something you otherwise wouldn't, do you think that rapping/singing in English would defeat the purpose, and also if there are any avid Croatians or people in other struggling countries I would love your feedback.

Spread Love and positivity, Pseudonym.
