Struggling at my job. Apply elsewhere in same company?

I'm working at a company I like and have about 2 years of experience in my current role, but I'm struggling a bit with documentation and my coworkers are quick to report any error to my boss. I haven't been placed on a PIP, but I think it's a possibility.

A job posting in the same company that pays a little less just came up and I'd like to apply. But I'm concerned that will blacklist me to my current bosses and that info will flow to my potential new boss, which means I may get an interview but probably not the job while burning bridges at my current role. I'm looking outside of the company as well.

Any advice on how to proceed? I still like my current job but not enough to deal with shitty people, stressful deadlines (they fired half the team who works remotely), and backstabbing behavior. TIA.
