carrying handgun18-20

I was curious if I could legally carry a handgun at the age of 18-20 in texas? I read somewhere if you have a license to carry a handgun(LTC) you can legally carry it at those ages, but that’m not certain. Just want to have it for protection because nowadays you never know what’s going to happen at anytime.
