What is a good way to secretly leave for the night

My boyfriend rented an Airbnb for us to get away. During this trip, I accidentally spilled my drink all over the floor of his new truck. He pulled over and started screaming at me, calling me stupid. When I exited the truck, he grabbed my wrists while screaming in my face and then lightly slapped me across the face. He apologized later after an exhausting ride to the Airbnb. I just don’t know what to do; this isn’t like him.
