Why do Zionists insist on calling Palestinians arabs?

I've noticed this whenevever I've got into an argument with a proper self identified zionist. I.e. they wont refer to Palestine or say Palestinian. Am I missing something or is this a deliberate tactic to strip away Palestinian identity?
