esp32 business network issues

I have a project where I log multiple esp32s into a network and they start communicating with a local server in the same network (running on a pc and displaying a small local webpage). The whole thing is written in micropython and works just fine in your average home network, but as soon as I am in a business network (e.g. eduroam), its not working anymore, or at least non reliably.

I am using this wifimanger package https://github.com/tayfunulu/WiFiManager

My question now comes down to this. Did you do a project where you update the parameters on the esp32s constantly and receive information from them (lets say every couple seconds). The information is sent back and forth in the form of json data.

Can i look into other modes of communication which would make the whole thing more robust? Is there a way to rethink the whole communication and tackle it from a different angle?
