Can the non-orthodox be saved from hell/hades?

I’m trying to get a better understanding of orthodox afterlife beliefs and I learnt that the Orthodox Church offers prayers to the dead. But it does seem that the beliefs of its effects differ from believer to believer.

From what I read, those who are orthodox but die in a state of unrepentance of sins descend into hades where prayers and good works of the Orthodox Church can hope to secure it a favourable judgment during the day of resurrection, granting the soul salvation.

But it seems that the opinions of the possibility of the salvation of the non orthodox differs in opinion. Some orthodox Christians believe that the prayers of the church can allow the non orthodox to receive salvation while some do not believe this is possible, that the prayers for the non orthodox dead serve to relieve some of their torments in Hades/Hell. Example of the latter is this webpage where they reference how some of the early church fathers do not believe in the possibility of the salvation of the non orthodox after death

Is the matter of the possibility of salvation of the non orthodox in hell something the Orthodox Church has an official stance on or is it still ambiguous and up to interpretation?
