Current Hive Mother farming strategy?

I've got a lot of old information on this, and I need some way to grind up melee/ranged since those stats grow so very slowly.
You can't dig holes around the big hive larva spawns, and they could eat through hive walls which were the most durable I had access to when I first tried it. I could go get an even tougher wall with a drill or something like the mold walls, but I figured I'd ask here if this farm has been more or less patched out or made redundant by a better method?

Oh, and the spike traps don't stop the acid from procing damage on me, but I can just stack lifesteal over it.
