MedTech Student Here! Any Tips for Starting Med School?
Good day everyone! I'm currently a fourth year medical laboratory science (medtech) student planning to start med right after. My internship is just about to start on the 3rd week of June. I'm not that confident in my skills yet since puro theoretical palang nasanay which is normal naman I guess, but I want to hone my skills further kaya I searched for applications that I can use to practice and prepare for med. I've been scrolling a lot sa r/medicalschool then i stumbled upon this post talking about the app called DiagnosUs. Based sa own experience ko with the app, you pick a medical case tapos multiple choice type siya though puro with regards to acne and tissue identification lang pinipili ko na topics since basic lang siya and yun lang siguro abot ng extent ng knowledge ko sa field na 'to so far haha. I wanted to use it solely for practice, pero nagulat ako nung nakita ko na may possibility pala mag earn by entering the leaderboards. I have topped some pero madalas 4th-5th place lang since magagaling talaga at talo ako sa mga med students. Just wanted to know if some of you use this app for practice or even for earning too. Curious lang din if legit ba yung earning system haha. Though I think I'll still be using it even without that since I think helpful siya (and fun haha, competing is fun). What are your thoughts here? Do you think na it'll be helpful for a future med student like me since it revolves on diagnosing cases and visual identification of things such as lesions? Any tips for upcoming med students like me?
I'm really doing everything possible to prepare academically lalo na't unlike other students that are born with privilege, my parents work 24/7 for me to reach my dreams. I've tried helping them by being a scholar for two consecutive years but third year MLS was really tough for me. I have also thought of not taking the MTLE and just pursuing med right away since it may lessen the cost to be allotted on review centers as I am not that confident in self-learning. Hope it goes well to us and to all my fellow students out there. Cheers!
Note: Here's the app for those who're also curious though it's for IOS users only: DiagnosUs App
