Is VIT really that bad?

I've seen so many people say that vit is bad. I know the crowd is more and this competition is pretty high. I also know that there are a lot of restrictions. Both of these I am fine with and I can deal with and I feel if in the end I study hard and build on my skills it should go fine or am I wrong? Does it really mess up placements and stuff?
