need upgrade help and advice, budget [$1000]

9 year old samsung bluray/5.1 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B00UCXJD8A) all in one system is on its last legs, wanting to get new and/or upgrade. looking for purchase recommendations, thanks.

spent some time looking, but reached the point of info overload,, receivers, amps, speakers, wires, correct plugs/connectors, etc.

what i need, what i don't, whats good, whats not worth the money

65" inch sony still in good shape, but looks like i'll need everything else? receiver, speakers, bluray?
