can i ask the nail tech to not fully fill one of my nail beds to the edges?

so i think my nail beds are thin and pretty on all of my other fingers, and they work perfect for the long, dainty oval shape that i want to get when i get my nails done next month. but my middle finger nail beds are wide and they don’t look elegant whatsoever, and i feel like they’re going to completely ruin that long, thinner oval shape that i want really badly, when it’ll work on all my other nails.

is there any way to ask my nail tech to not fill my middle finger all the way to the edges? i’m getting acrylic. as in, to create an artificially thinner middle nail by leaving gaps at the sides? that’s what i do whenever i paint them because they just look so awful compared to the rest of my nails, and they’re not at all the look i want to go for.
