First Live Gig with Serato: Insights and Experiences

Hey Serato community,

Last night, I played my first live gig using Serato after practicing at home for the past few weeks. I use a Pioneer FLX10 and switched to Serato because of the Stems feature, which, as we all know, isn’t great on Rekordbox.

During my three-hour set, I primarily used my own playlist but occasionally played tracks from Tidal. Here are a few things I noticed:

  1. Channel 1 Issues:

I had some unexpected problems with Channel 1. At one point, I couldn’t use the pitch control anymore—it was completely stuck, forcing me to switch to Channel 3. This was really frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix?

  1. Beat Sync Problems:

While using Beat Sync, I found that once it was engaged, I couldn’t unlock it from the other sync. In Rekordbox, you just press Beat Sync again to separate them, but I couldn’t manage to do this in Serato. Any tips on how to handle this?

  1. Stems Feature:

The Stems feature was a game-changer for my performance. It allowed me to isolate vocals and instrumentals on the fly, giving my set a unique edge. However, I did notice that sometimes it took a moment longer than expected to process, which threw off my timing a bit. Any advice on optimizing this?

  1. Tidal Integration:

While the integration with Tidal is fantastic for accessing a broader range of music, I found that some tracks didn’t load as quickly as I’d hoped. Is this a common issue, and are there any settings I should tweak to improve this?

  1. Master Volume Issues:

I also noticed that my master volume seemed inconsistent at times. Occasionally, it would drop unexpectedly, even though I hadn’t touched the volume controls. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Overall, my experience with Serato was positive, but I’m curious if anyone has experienced similar issues or has any advice to share. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers,

Bram
