Moving to UK for 17 months at end of July

Hi, as many others have asked, I’m curious about the steps involved in porting to Google Voice. I’ve tried to summarize this process below. Please let me know if I’m mistaken on anything. Thanks in advance!

-port US number to google voice for one time fee or $20 -Verizon will terminate my plan -will need interim monthly data solution for July before I move -then get sim/phone plan in UK upon arrival -can use google voice app or hangout to text/call US family/friends with US number for free while on wifi or use data from UK phone plan to do this -can give local number to UK locals and text them with iMessage while in UK -return to US and forward ported number back to Verizon
