Rule n°1 of Rocket League

Okay, so, in order to give you some context : I give a lot of importance in the n°1 rule of Rocket league : If you are in a duel, front to front with an other car, you must keep the duel and the other car must too...

But recently, i was doing a turnament with a mate, we are in prolongation and he ends up being in a rule n°1 duel with an opponent... I didn't want to loose this so when i took the ball near to them, i finished runing into my mate and interompting the duel... I feel so bad since this day and i wonder if i was wrong to do this, and if i should stop playing this game since i trashed the first rule....
