Is my earring post too short? Downsizing from 8mm to 5mm for 3rd upper lobes

Hello, I got my 3rd upper lobes pierced last year with 8mm titanium labret internally threaded flatbacks. Healed with no issues but never got it downsized. I purchased these 5mm solid gold internally thread to replace my titanium flatbacks but think the post is too short?

I read online 5mm was recommended for 3rd lobes and my earrings are prone to getting snagged by my hair so wanted a snug fit but this might be too snug? Please help/advice, thank you!
