Almost in year 12 with barely any work experience
From my understanding to even be considered by a decent medical school one must have a good set of work experiences/volunteer work, extra curriculars etc.
I am going into year 12 in August and I have only done 25 hours of shadowing, NO volunteer work done AT ALL, maybe 1 extracurricular activity in the past 2 years. Since it's currently summer, it's too late to even search for work because the processing takes ages. I still tried cold emailing several hospitals in my area yesterday but my hopes are low.
So how bad is my current situation? Feels like I'm off to a bad start already..
And what could I do this summer instead that would help me with my application..? Work experience is pretty much out of the question because I messed up and thought of it too late.
