Should I consider a drop?

SERIOUS POST

I'll keep it short and simple (I'll try to). So I got 83%ile in JEE 2024, and I did do coaching for 2 years, but NEVER did anything JEE related apart from the classes except the last month before JEE.

Most of my basics concepts are okay, but just the basics. I've never really done good question practice in the last 2 years. About boards, I had 99% in 10th (I know 10th doesn't matter) and 95.75% in 12th with PCM aggregate 92% (Physics fucked me up.)

My current options are VIT Vellore CSE+Data Science Category 4, and I also got 70XX Rank in MET, didn't fill ECE in counselling but according to last year cutoffs I can only get ECE in main campus, no computer related branches.

I made peace with joining VIT but I've been getting second thoughts for a while now. I know I could study and get a percentile way better than that 83, and I know its bad and easily achievable but I honestly never studied for JEE. My coaching wasn't too good either, and neither was I, as I never solved any of the DPPs and workbook and modules.

I would really like to hear everyone's thoughts. If I do take a drop, I'll probably end up joining Allen Delhi and I don't have school as a distraction anymore so I could definitely put in a lot more studying hours, but yeah idk its a very raw thought.
