What are you using for rooftop shade this summer season?

Question

I live in a tall townhome with a flat rooftop, which I'd like to spend time on during summer, but even now before 9am it's so sunny that I'm not entirely comfortable.

I was thinking about a pergola or sun shade but I'd want something with moveable shades along the sides as well as the top since the sun is usually to the side in the mornings/evenings when I like to go up.

Also pergola installation is intimidating because I heard that it's so windy here you'd need to connect it to the townhome structure.

Wondering what other people have done, if there are any rooftop shade companies people would recommend, or if someone DIY'd--how etc.

Also if anyone has suggestions on plants/planters for rooftops that would be cool:)
