After barely scraping through V+4 in Divergent Universe, I decided to try a more defensive approach with a Remembrance/Preservation team that relied primarily on Dissociation and the shield equation with some follow-ups to deal the damage. The comp I used was Ratio, Clara, Aventurine, Luocha for double sustains since the debuff trio can bypass shields so additional cleanse and healing were necessary imo.

Went about as expected for everything until the last boss, enemies were ridiculous HP sponges but my build was practically unkillable with fat shields and focus on survival, all while Dissociation did a good job of breaking through obscene HP pools. Hell, even for the first two HP bars of the last boss things were going pretty well too. But then a weird icon showed up in the turn order — It was a little red spiky grin, and as far as I know I’ve never seen it before in any mode.

When it came around, the banner read something along the lines of “enemies are berserk and will deal considerably more damage”. And then it appeared again in the turn order maybe 2-3 actions away. And it just kept happening, “enemies are berserk and will deal considerably more damage” on repeat as their damage started ramping insanely hard and fast, they cleaned my Ratio off the field with a 15k shield and full HP with the damage reduction blessing upgraded and all.

I somehow managed to win with a couple of lucky dissociation procs, but goddamn I thought the point of having all the path options was that slow and steady was a viable choice?? Guess not, when there’s a berserk timer rendering slow and steady builds defunct.

Dunno how I feel about this latest mode, especially with the upgrade field where no matter what difficulty you clear you only get 100 currency to unlock at most 2 mini nodes, or less than one major node.

In addition to enemies polluting turn order, now there’s an enrage timer?
