What is the general strategy when you invade people?
Preamble:
I primarily pvp as host and my friends and I take turns fighting invaders. However this was in 2022. I've noticed now that there are very VERY few invaders compared to then and there is long downtime between people who show up since back then. I decided to try filling this gap by invading. This was a mistake.
I've been playing since the DLC released and haven't played since May of 2022 so I know part of this is rust, but I am noticing that when fighting invaders as a host with friends, everyone seemed pretty polite. I knew it was extremely unfair as an invader so they were pretty grateful to get a fair fight, but I had no idea how bad it really was. The sheer amount of vitriol and BM from players when they kill an invader is... perplexing to me and I think not at all as warranted as it seems. In fact I'm really struggling to think of a reason to invade at all, period.
Question:
I enjoy pvp, though I feel Time to Kill has lowered drastically since I last played. This, coupled with always being outnumbered at least 2 to 1, many times 3v1, AND hunters (which are in the game for some reason given how one sided invading is already?) I am deeply deeply struggling to figure out general strategies for success in virtually any capacity. Any advice from invaders would be appreciated. Perhaps something more like a glass canon build, something with less vigor and more damage? I am at a complete loss for how to continue my attempts.
