The same conversation in multiple places

I’m thinking of an idea involving a character who has the same conversation over the course of a journey, but it’s not shown until much later in the story. The conversation involves 2 people talking to each other, but the secound person in the conversation is addressed by a different name every time they speak because it’s a different person. Will that work for the reader, and what other way do you think it could be done?
