What to do with empty spools?

Probably an age old question here, and apologies if it’s TOO much of a repeat, but what do people do with their empty spools of filament?

I used to live by a creative reuse depot in Berkeley, but have yet to find an equivalent in my new fest.

(I’ve always liked the thought of turning some into old timey film spool props)
