Why does everyone seem to hate Jacob?

I'm well through playing ME2, have done all loyalty missions except Legion(haven't gotten him yet), and I have to say, I really don't know why people don't like Jacob. Sure, he's kinda boring, but he's just a soldier dude. I mean, I don't really take him on missions (Tali and Garrus ftw) but I don't get the dislike.
