How much money should I save before doing a working holiday realistically

Hello my girlfriend moved back to Japan eariler this year and I'm planning to do a working holiday so I can be with her. How much money is realist to save before trying to be there for around a year as I know jobs don't pay so well in Japan so while I'm planning to try working I'm aware I might struggle with that so I'd like to try having some savings before coming.
