My Google Pixel 8 is INCREDIBLY SLOW to upload/backup pictures and videos. Is there any difference, when uploading from a computer's hard drive, compared to uploading directly from a phone?
So, as I referred to, in my description, my Google Pixel 8 is ridiculously slow to upload/backup pictures and videos that I have taken. I also need tot say, I have two older Google Pixel phones - a Pixel 4a and a Pixel 6a - and neither of those devices seem to have the same problem, when it comes to backing-up/uploading pictures and videos from those devices. They will frequently upload pictures and videos to my Google Photos account, within a matter of minutes, sometimes, seemingly, within a few seconds. However, with my Google Pixel 8, I currently have about 46,000 pictures on it, and it is still showing that there are approximately 20,000 of them that are in the process of being backed-up/uploaded and the shit has been going on, for several weeks, or months, actually. So, apparently, out of the 46,000 photos and videos that I have taken, over the past 3 months (since the 1st week of April, 2024, I believe), it has only backed-up/uploaded 26,000 of them, during the past 11 weeks.
For the record, I have T-Mobile cell service with Unlimited High-speed data, and I have Sparklight Home Internet with 1GB download and upload speeds. So, it's definitely not my data or Internet connections that are slowing down the uploading process with my Google pixel 8.
Being that this backup/upload process is taking months, I haven't wanted to move all of my pictures and videos from my Pixel 8 to my computer's hard drive, because I wanted all of these photos and videos to be backed up to my Google Photos account. And I pay the $11 per month, to have the 2TB Google One backup package. It's getting to a point, though, where I want to hurry up and try to move the 46,000 pictures and videos that are currently on my Google Pixel 8, to free up some space on my phone.
So, I'm wondering, if I am actually able to move all 46,000 files from my Pixel 8 to my computer's hard drive, would I be able to upload the remaining 20,000 (of these 46,000 files) to Google Photos, through my Firefox web browser? Assuming that this is simple to do, will there be any difference, at all, with the files that have been uploaded from my computer, compared to the pictures and videos that were uploaded directly from my Google Pixel 8 phone? Will they all be uploaded, and organized, with the same date and timestamp that corresponds with when the photos were taken? Will everything still be uploaded and backed-up, in chronological order? Or, will there be some differences, with regards to the photos that were backed-up/uploaded from my Google Pixel 8 and the photos that were backed-up/uploaded from my computer's hard drive. If so, what will these differences be?
I would also like to ask, does anyone know what the best way would be, to go about moving 46,000 picture and videos from my Google Pixel 8, to my computer's hard drive? The problem is, after I connect my Pixel 8 to my computer and select the 'Move/Transfer Files' option, it takes like 20 to 30 minutes for the folder to completely populate and for all of the files to be recognized. However, at that point, it's like my computer, or my phone, is running low on memory, because it almost always gives me an error message, before it actually tries to move any of the files. For the record, my ASUS Desktop Computer (running Windows 10) has a USB-A and a USB-C input port, and I recently ordered some Anker USBC 3.1 cables, one cable that is USB-A-to-USB-C and another cable that is USB-C-to-USB-C, and I have tried both cables, yet, I still get the same problem, with regards to the error message about the device becoming "unreachable." Then, at that point, I have to disconnect my Pixel 8 from my computer, plug it back in, wait for it to repopulate my DCIM folder/for the computer to process seeing all 46,000 files, which causes the same damn "Device Unreachable" problem to happen again. So, if anyone knows of a way to resolve this issue, or knows of a different way to try to move 46,000 files from a Pixel 8 phone to my computer's hard drive, please, let me know.
One more thing. I would like to try to download a bunch of the larger video files that I have already backed up to my Google Photos account, then, delete them, so that I can free up space towards my 2TB Google One backup limit, but I don't know how to go about doing that. How would I try to search for video files, and have them organized, based on the size of the file, on the Google Photos webpage? If there is a way to do this, some helpful information would be great.
I apologize, for the lengthy post; but this has been extremely frustrating and I don't know what to do, at this point. So, if anyone has any helpful feedback or suggestions that they would like to give me, I would be genuinely grateful, for any help that I could get.
