Questions about what is making my left tire hop like a bunny at times and shudder when braking
2013 Toyota Avalon, 116k miles.
It's been going on about 12-18 months. It's not a bubble, I've checked that on numerous times. And it's not the tires; I had to change my front two tires about a month ago because they were very baldy. Yes, they were used tires from one of those wonky Mexican Tire Stores that are everywhere, but are in very good condition.
When driving, it has the "feel" of about a medium bubble. hop hop hop bounce bounce bounce. Sometimes a little better, mostly not though. And when I brake, I get what could best be charactertized as a medium-level shudder. No loss in braking ability.
I replaced brake pads about 6 months ago. I caught them when the left just started to squeak at times. Very mild scoring on rotors so I did not change them.
I've read online that it COULD be a warped rotor. I also have talked with people and they said it could be a control arm, control rod, strut, etc. ? Beyond "brake pads" and "rotors," I'm lost as to what part is what and I would not be able to change them.
I've also heard people perhaps an alignment issue?
I still have a warranty until either Dec. 2024 or 125k miles from Carmax, whatever comes first. DOES NOT COVER BRAKES OR ROTORS and I have a $300.00 deductible. Is there some way I can find out, in advance, if it is the rotor or if it is something else that would be covered by the warranty because I'm trying to not burn $300.00 for a problem if it is in fact the rotors, as I could simply buy rotors/brake pads and replace myself.
