Pyramidal Poems - Format Concept
I had an idea for a new (?) format - Pyramid poems. Based on fibonacci poems, the number of syllables in each 3 lines increases by a factor of 3. So 1 syllable, then, 3, 9, and 27 and even 81 if you're really unhinged. the poems themselves are mid I think but the format is fun. Not sure if this has been done before.
pyramid poem 1 - higher power
I
am
fine
whether I
am alone
or with you
for after all, there is solace in
the idea of a higher power
who loves both you and me equally
and this higher power doesn’t stop there, whoever they are. they leave patterns and clues which betray the secret
these patterns are everywhere once you open your heart to them, call me crazy, but life is full of cyclical
movements, sounds, colors. these words spiral like a pyramid, I could go on but you’d stop reading, wouldn’t you now
pyramid poem 3 – sacrament of cheese
dogs
have
faith
not of the
biblical
sort, you know
they have faith in us to protect them
and keep them fed, and provide a home
their faith is constantly rewarded
humans don’t have the benefit of living under the same roof as their god, knowing his face and eating cheese
from the palm of his sacred hand. if you’re a good dog owner, your dog should be the first to receive communion
and thank his lucky stars every night, in prayer, for finding a gracious god to play tug-of-war with in the den
