Question for those diagnosed young

Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping someone in Reddit land can help me. I was diagnosed in my 40’s so only have that as my reference. My son who is 10 is displaying all the tell tale signs I recognize from my youth. My wife and I want to get him tested but I’m worried they will put him on medication( I don’t really know why, maybe cause I know medication can be tough, it is for me anyway). Does anyone have any experience with being diagnosed young and going on medication and what it was like for you?. Thank you so much for any insights you can share.
