Husband just tested positive after a week of malaise and sinus/tension headache - sinus "cold" symptoms only started yesterday - could it have been FLiRT all along?
Live from my living room couch it's COVID isolation!
My husband hasn't been feeling himself for about a week and a half - pretty extreme malaise (like, multiple naps a day, sleeping 12+ hours and still being exhausted type malaise), muscle aches, and sinus pressure/tension headache. It got to the point he went to see his doctor late last week and they basically diagnosed him with being too stressed and sent him home with a prescription to take some Advil and take it easy. We've had quite a bit of stress happening in the last few weeks so it wasn't a surprise but still.
He felt REALLY suddenly bad on Saturday, like had to stop what we were doing and lay down and take a 3 hour long nap mid day type bad. His pain started to concentrate in on his sinuses but it got better with rest and hydration and medication so he wasn't too worried. He started to turn a new leaf on Monday, where he was much less tired but way more sinus-focused and woke up with a snotty stuffy nose yesterday. Thinking it was just whatever weird thing happening, he went into the office yesterday and hung out with me all day.
WELL first thing this morning a friend of mine sent me, of all things, a TikTok video of a physician saying that she's been seeing a TON of patients where their only COVID indicator is extreme malaise and a sinus headache followed by sinus drainage. Well, I made my husband take a test and...here we are.
He's currently isolating in our guest room but like...we sleep in the same bed, including last night, we've spent most of the past week on the same couch, we've shared drinks, and obviously, we are married, so it's not like we don't smooch lol. I'm so far symptom free and testing negative and have decided to isolate away from one another and mask when we're in common spaces with as many windows as the Boston area humidity will allow us to keep open. He contracted JN.1 over Christmas and, despite not isolating and doing nothing different outside of not smooching I never got it so I'm hoping for a similar bout of luck. We were scheduled to get boosters literally this weekend but wanted to wait until he was feeling better - guess that's how fate works out!
Obviously not looking for medical advice here but more commiseration and thoughts of just how likely all of this might be - he was told by his doctor his symptoms "weren't consistent" with COVID so he didn't test and he's regretting it now 🥲
