Just got a camera and think I made a mistake

I made a random purchase on an urge and I bought a Canon powershot SX500 lS. I had no idea at the time it was 11 years old. I wanted a decent entry level camera to take some cute shots of my animals and some nice outside shots. Did I mess up by getting something so old? I know I should have done more research. It was an out of nowhere purchase. Is this camera okay for how old it is?
