Hypothetically, would a misdemeanor conviction result in firing?
Let's say, hypothetically, that someone may be convicted of a serious misdemeanor
Would that, necessarily, result in the person being fired from their federal job?
Their immediate supervisor has been notified of the offense, but it hasn't gone further up the chain of command
Court date is yet to come, hypothetically
EDIT: good questions. Without revealing too much, it's not domestic violence, not a DUI or drugs, and no one was physically hurt. Was not arrested, issued a citation.
Don't work for DoD or any LEO agency, but position is "public trust". Situation was documented and explained on background check forms and interview.
Edit2: it's an assault charge (no battery, no arrest). Not a new hire - it's the every 5 year background check (SF85 and OF306)
