Is becoming an entrepreneur a good idea?

I currently have a 3 family house, and rent the two upstairs units while I live in the first one, the rent covers pretty much almost the whole mortgage, we (my wife and I) only pay $300, and that’s because our insurance increased, before it would cover all of the mortgage.

I’ve always wanted to be in charge of my own money, if I’m educated and disciplined I have lower risk than working for somebody else who can go bankrupt or fire me for no reason, so I want to expand on RE investing (because I really like it so far with my house), but after reading and getting advice from some friends they said I would be better starting my own business in construction (roofing to be specific) and expand because I already am a roofer and enjoy the business side of it.

In the end I’m researching the risks and benefits and which one attracts me more personally, I don’t want to go in blind anywhere, and would like your two cents on this “dilemma” if you were to be in it aswell. Thanks in advance
