An analysis of the Weiqi game shown in the "Waking of a World" release trailer, and how it foreshadows the story presented in 1.1
Weiqi, aka Go in Japanese or Baduk in Korean, is an ancient board game that is very similar to chess, played by 2 players taking turns to place stones coloured black or white on a 19x19 grid, aiming to capture as much territory on the board as possible. Additionally, if you surround your opponent's stones with your own, you capture the surrounded stones and remove them from the board:
Example from Wikipedia showing that white playing at spot A captures the black stones
Now that you know the basics of the game, this is the board that they flashed during the release trailer:
Which is actually a well known Weiqi game in CN history that's been studied, with the full board state actually looking like this:
In the current board state, both group of connected white stones in the middle are actually under threat of being completely captured, and it seems that white has to sacrifice one group in order to be able to save the other group
Now in CN, a chain of connected stones like the white ones in the pictures above is called 大龙, literally meaning "big dragon", which means that in this game, white has two dragons and seemingly has to sacrifice one in order to save the other, tying back to the story in 1.1 where it seemed like between Jinhsi and Jue, one had to be sacrificed in order to save the other
However, that's not how story turned out, and if you remember the trailer, a butterfly actually landed on a spot on the board
Which is shown to be the spot that Changli later plays
And the spot that the butterfly lands? Well since this is a known game that's been played in history, it is the spot that was actually played, and the move that actually saves both of white's dragons
And going back to the trailer, the board flips after Changli plays her move, and the rover appears for the first time in the trailer:
Completely lining up with the events in 1.1, as Changli is the one who brings rover into Mt Firmament, and rover eventually becomes the key that saves both Jinhsi and Jue, making Changli the one who played the key move saving both dragons as in the Weiqi game
Disclaimer: although I am native in both EN and CN, I am only at the beginner level for the game of Weiqi, so the analysis of this game was actually done by this CN creator on bilibili, and I merely summarised, simplified, and translated their points here. So far it seems that every single Weiqi game shown in the trailers have hidden meanings, but they're just a little too advanced for people with 0 knowledge of the game to be able to understand. If you're interested, they have the analysis for the game shown in the 1.1 trailer here and the analysis for the game shown in Changli's trailer here
