Ankle arthroscopy / clean up

I fractured my ankle a few months ago and they had me wait to see if it would heal properly. Now I got it reevaluated by a different doctor, turns out I was going to need surgery all along. I have a bone fragment that needs to be taken out and two bone spurs. I also need to get my cartilage repaired.

I guess my question is, what is the recovery like from this? Most the posts I have seen on reddit are people complaining about how they were never the same after so was hoping to hear if anyone had any other alternatives or positive experiences. But online the success rate seems really high.

I am 20 and love playing basketball as my hobby so hoping it won't prevent me from playing again. Thanks!
