Fix Damaged led strip ?

I have just purchased the 2.1 kit., and out of the box found the strip to be faulty. so leds will not pass a solder joint from factory. The tv is brand new and and was waiting to be hung on the wall. I am awaiting a replacement strip to arrive. I got impatient with hanging the tv so decided to cut the strip and attempt to repair and remove the damaged part of strip to another part of the tv which was easier to access. and then just fix it with a part of the new strip. so do not have to remove the tv again.

I have done numerous work with ws2812b led strips, ws2811 strips. etc, so an easy fix of soldering 3 pads, DO TO DI, and 12v etc. no matter where i make the connection the startup self test will only go to that point. These are labelled ws2811 leds, is there something different with these strips to prevent adding, or modifying them ?
