Why are Jesuits universities one of the best universities in the world? What about Jesuits?

I like Jesuits' spirituality and their zeal for knowledge and intellectuality, which at times seems almost not in accord with the doctrines of the Catholic Church. They just stand out too much and feel unusual.

However, there are many great Jesuit universities in the world that seem to prove the Jesuits' standard of knowledge and learning. I myself graduated from the only Jesuit university in Korea, and its education is top-notch, despite Catholicism being a minority compared to Protestantism here. Why is this so?

And how can they combine intellectuality with faith? It seems great, but sometimes they seem to me at odds. I like studying the Catholic Church, yet I have no faith. Is this why I am weirdly attracted to Jesuits?
