Young Adult/Children Book Series Fantasy Early 2000s (I think) - the main character (male) was an amazing soprano in a church or small town choir as a child but saw the future and that he would become a decent but not amazing baritone - possible magic metalwork shape

UNSOLVED

Hi Reddit

I'm looking for a book I read as a pre-teen in the early 2000s, definitely before 2010, the title of this post is the thing I remember for absolute certain - along with the fact that I remember the ending of the series because it made me so angry, the main character was the only one out of possibly five (possibly seven) other characters who remembers the events of the books, everyone else's memory gets wiped and the last sentence is 'we've got a long way to go'

There's definitely magic and I feel like there was some sort of special metalwork shape involved? At some point in the series he gets a flash of the future which is how he finds out that post puberty he'll be an average singer rather than the amazing soprano he is as a kid - the magic isn't connected to the singing but may be connected to metalwork, I don't think he could always see the future but got a couple of flashes.

There are also some aspects that could potentially be red herrings - I think he was the seventh son of a seventh son, I think his name was Will, I think there were five books in the series, I feel like the covers were primarily white, I think he lived in a small town that was vaguely medieval-ish but definitely wasn't modern and traveled to nearby towns for choir concerts, there may have been an adult who trained him in magic but if there was they either didn't die or it wasn't impactful

It was a chapter book, and when in a mass market paperback size was probably around the 200-300 word mark, I don't remember it being a big book, I feel like it was definitely smaller than the philosophers stone or any of the his dark materials books, more on par with the size of the circle of magic books by Tamora Pierce. I think I may have borrowed it from the library because I have all my old books and its not in there, though it may have been culled in a moment of anger based on the unsatisfying ending.

Books I'm sure it's not based on reading the wikis:

The Spook's Apprentice
Septimus Heap
Seventh Son by Orson Scott Call
