Curious about your experiences with scientific writing! (e.g. thesis)

Hi!

I am curious to know about your expierences scientific writing projects (e.g. thesis writing for undergrad/grad school, PhD, or essays).

I like my topic, but I am not making much progress. I get constantly distracted by my own thoughts and ideas, even though I've moved to environments where I'm supposed to be able to focus (library, office).

I struggle with finishing my thoughts and bringing them to paper because I get sidetracked by the next idea or minor task. I find everrything interesting and important, making it difficult to decide what to write and in what order. There are so many possibilities. I never thought I would say this, but at this point, I miss math... a clear right and wrong.

I love creative writing, but scientific writing so far doesn't seem to be for me. so far I would love to hear your stories and experiences to help me feel less like an idiot.
