Ripping the Band-aid Off
SIL is 11 weeks preggy and it's not been a fun experience for her so far. I could be one of those douches who says 'we're pregnant' but it isn't like I'm the one physically dealing with it. Morning sickness has turned into all-day malaise. It's a struggle for her to get to work and when she's back she's out of commission the rest of the night. Certain smells, motions, tastes, etc cause it to be much much worse and yay for me, sex is one of those. In the rare times we have (usually when Roxane takes Kiddo out for dinner) it is missionary, a slightly rolled up towel under her back, a towel over her face, and her telling me to get it in and cum as fast as I can. There's absolutely nothing she enjoys about it. Nothing.
And she's convinced she's getting fat or ugly or whatever, none of which is happening. None. She's barely eating, despite me telling her I'll make or get anything she's in the mood for. There are days it seems she lives on water and the vitamins she has. The doctor said this should be passing 'soon'.
In no order:
- All of last week and all of this week until this morning I've been putting in 7am-6pm+ days. And usually another hour or two after Kiddo and her go to sleep. I'm basically living on caffeine. Today is the first time I can just fuck around for a bit until some meetings in the afternoon. I need the break.
- But last week we also had to go to the Ob/gyn for her first checkup. And Roxane bailed on us last minute so we took Kiddo with us who never put 2+2 together so far that SIL is pregnant. I stupidly made a comment about how all of Jessie's friends said they'd help and basically nobody outside of Roxane has. That wasn't the time nor place to pull that one out.
- SIL insisted I join her in the exam room, but not when she was getting weighed. Her doctor greeted her with a happy shriek and hug. "[SIL], [SIL], oh my god I'm so happy for you!" the she sizes me up like a hunk of meat and starts talking about this kid won the genetic lottery etc.
- I've mentioned it before, SIL has a chronic, underlying medical condition. And yeah, it can and will affect pregnancy. She'll need checkups every two weeks, not every month, from now until whenever, and we were advised that even though August-ish would be the end of the first trimester, we might want to hold off on announcing things a little longer as there's still an elevated chance of a miscarriage or severe complication through about 16-18 weeks which is September. But the good news as I mentioned was the morning sickness-type of symptoms should be easing any time now.
- They haven't...
- SIL also had a metric ton of bloodwork and other tests this week, awaiting results.
So the other massive item on the long to-do list is now being addressed. My place was a cool bachelor pad. It worked ok for two as long as we didn't mind being snug. With Kiddo as a trial run, three is too many. (and with the fact that Kiddo may end up staying with us beyond the promised end of summer that's another complication but I have neither the time nor motivation to complain about that whole situation at the moment and it is only getting uglier going forward......................)
So I agreed to move to somewhere better to 'raise a family'. SIL has her asks, I have mine, most of them are in agreement. We have a real estate agent and spending most of tomorrow and Sunday looking at stuff.
Selling my place is the easiest part. I already sent a message to the co-op group email saying I'm considering moving and within an hour had two people respond that they knew someone interested, immediately, and cash.
So ripping the band-aid off. Baby on the way (crazy to say that), new job shit, and now moving. Just fucking getting it all done at once so maybe by the fall and winter it'll go smooth.
