Victim of CSA

Criminal Law

Hi everyone, hope ye can help me! So I’m a victim of CSA, went to trial and he was sentenced. When he was released in 2021 though I was never notified and ended up seeing him the day he was released. I was pregnant at the time, gone back to education and my family with the best of intentions basically told me to move on and let it go due to the stress of the situation. I concentrated on my priorities and my present life but it still was in the back of my head. By the end of 2022 I was back in therapy and that was the main theme of almost every session. I keep trying to move on but I honestly feel so let down by the system, I feel if i was contacted I would have been able to prepare myself.

So my question here is, did I have a right or anything to be told? I’ve contemplated asking this question for months now. My mental health was really affected due to this and it took me back to a place of feeling unsafe and vulnerable again. I try my best to bury it and concentrate on my children and my education but at least once a week I think about it tbh even almost 3 years later.

I’m fully convinced he tapped on my car boot (I was stuck in traffic) because it’s when I heard a noise that I looked around (admittedly was on my phone while the light was red) and saw him, but as I’ve said before I was told to let it go and I thought it was for the best at the time due to him already taking so much of my life from me.
